Overview
The All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship (SHC) is the premier inter-county hurling competition. The Liam MacCarthy Cup is awarded to the winners, and it is considered the highest honour in the sport. The championship runs from spring through to the final in July.
Format
The hurling championship follows a similar structure to football but with fewer participating counties due to the sport's regional nature:

Hurling has historically been dominated by counties in the southern half of Ireland. Kilkenny's famous "Cats" won four All-Irelands in a row from 2006 to 2009 under Brian Cody.
